Final Stop: LA JAGUA

A Little town, just about 20 minutes from Garzón Huila, a really cool place to stay and having vacations! There, I spent almost one month with my family for Christmas Holidays, and was one of the most amazing experience in my life, because I did all the things that I like to do, those are: Swimming (a lot of in the Magdalena river, in one clear and safe part of it), also there were a lovely pool, in our vacation house.

I Spent Christmas eve there and new year eve, for 2012. And I can say, I would do it again!

One Stop: GARZÓN.

Garzón is at 113 Km from the capital city, Neiva. And also is located 73 km from Pitalito’s municipality. Is well known as the Diocesan Capital of Huila for being the first catholic’s diocese from the region from which belong utterly ones. Also is knowm as THE SOUL OF HUILA or “Garzoncito”. Furthermore is recognized as a proud city of it religious architecture and the great personality of its people

This is a traditional city, where you can enjoy a dish of fresh fish from Magdalena's river, but fashion is not behind; you can find there a market of cheap shoes from leather brought from Santander (a region of Colombia specialized in manufacturing shoes in high quality leather and really cheap) or from the city itself. There are also, tons of shops for regular outfit from the region, by example, big bags or backpacks to carry food, blankets, camping stuff and swimsuits to the river and/or maybe village (all natural spaces).

The streets are so crowded of tourist and native people who enjoy go walking down town and share with theirs family one pretty afternoon, maybe some ice cream to deal with the heat of the late afternoon.

DESCRIPTION OF THE REGION

Huila is one of the 32 regions of Colombia, is located at the southwest of the country in between the beginning of the “Riachón” River (name of one town of the zone) and the Fragua’s peak (in Acevedo village), And also between the “Alto de las Oseras” and the Papa’s moor (San Agustin municipality). It’s capital is Neiva, and this is one very important capital in the south of the country.

The Weather is combined, there are regions in wich you can enjoy plenty heat, rays of sun (this gives you so much energy!)... but sometimes is so hot, that you'd want to be swimming in a pool or even better, river. this kind of extreme weather happens most of all only in Neiva.

By other hand, there are some other regions, that are very cold, like in the town of Zuluaga, near to Gigante (another big city). Zuluaga is a small village where you may want to wear a coat. It's 'covered' with coffee plantation, and surrounded by medium mountains.

What about this Road Trip?

I would like to talk to you about this gorgeous land... the reason is because I’ve wonderful moments there. Those are being a complete experience in touch with the pumping green landscape. That’s why I'd be glad if you live this experience with me! Through my experience. In order to arrive there, in the middle of Colombia, you have to decide if you do it by the long and easy way, or maybe going by the shortest way.... the shortest way is the less known... but the most adventurous and amazing travel by road that you'll ever have.

Is an "open" "harsh" way, that only bye big car can cross it. What about the profits? You can feel the energy of the earth flowing through your blood, feel the rays of the sun crossing your eyes to get your soul, and the freedom and wildness of it nature printed in your mind. If you're and "opened mind" person, I assure you, you'll never forget and you maybe would like to come back. Is a Journey (departing from Cali, Valle) of 12 hours, a whole day, but the recommendation is that you wake up early and leave city since 7 am or even earlier. In this way you'll cross some cities and village like Jamundí, Santander de Quilichao (the first big city receiving us in Cauca Region), then some little village like Mondomo. Finally you get to Popayán, the big city, capital from Cauca.

After Popayán, the adventure rides in! Starts! The excitement can’t wait, no more excuse to be in contact with true nature, this fresh air that you'll be breathing will be taking away all the worries from the cities. I give you my word! :D
